Fallen
The Artwork:
Look closely at which flowers have opened. The ones that bowed down — that bent toward the water, that gave up standing tall — have burst into full bloom, petals flung wide like yellow stars catching the last of the sun. And the one still holding itself upright, proud and vertical, remains closed, its bud bound tight, waiting for something it hasn’t yet found.
This is the quiet wisdom the piece carries: that it is often our small defeats that open us. The bowing, the bending, the moments we think of as falling — these are frequently where the blooming begins. What looks like surrender from the outside is, inside, a flower deciding to open. We spend so long trying to stay upright, unbroken, undefeated, not realizing that the very thing we resist is the thing that would finally let us bloom.
The sun sets the same on the fallen and the standing. But only one of them has opened. Let this be a reminder that your smallest losses may be carrying your largest victories — and that sometimes you have to bow before you can bloom.
